The fact is that HBCU students are thirsty and hungry for online platform incorporation in learning process. The testament is evidenced in their fiddling with hand gadgets in the classroom whilst lecture is in progress, contrary to classroom etiquette in most cases. When students are asked to use their cell phones in the classroom to google something most of them jump to it. This is a testament in itself. It is not about technology averse president, dean, faculty or staff, it is about survival of institution. Online learning is here and here to stay. If you can't beat it, you must join it. Training and commitment are what it takes to assuage the fear of online teaching and learning. If HBCUs continue to accommodate fear of teaching and learning online, sooner or later the fear itself will become a threat to the institution. In this 21st century it must be about embracing online learning positively and not debating or talking about it. Talk is cheap when it lacks action.
